HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BEST FRIEND!!!!!

I would like to dedicate this post to one of the most amazing women I know, my VERY best friend, Ms. Danielle Nicole McKie!  I love this girl something serious! We met in college, and I didn't like her. She looked so freaking mean. Come to find out, she had similar thoughts about me. LOL! Once we got to know each other, it was like perfection. As with any friendship, we have had our ups and downs. But everything we have been through strengthened our relationship and taught us to appreciate one another. She is so loyal and so kind (now don't get it twisted, she takes no shit from no one) that you can't help but love her. I have seen her overcome difficult situations and still be able to smile. She is a God fearing woman who loves her family and friends to pieces. She is the epitome of what a true friend should be.

The thing I love about her the most is her honesty. Through everything, she has always been honest and sincere. Sometimes we go through life and wonder what is our purpose. I am convinced we were supposed to be each other's best friend and sister. This girl is seriously the only person I can talk to when the rest of the world is frustrating and nerve wrecking. We can pray together, we can toast together, shop together, eat together... my husband has to love her because we've already concluded that we are going to live EXTREMELY close to each other and raise our families together! She is definitely my right hand (wo)man! ANNNDD she is the ONLY person I know who has mastered being skinny WITHOUT working out! IDK how this little firecracker does it, but she can maintain 135 like nobody's business. LOL! Anybody is lucky to have this beautiful person in their life. She is the ultimate blessing! Kudos to her parents, Jackie and Daniel, for raising such a blessing!  I LOVE YOU TO THE MOON AND BACK DANNIE NICOLE!!!

My favorite Dannie Memory (I can't put that on here, but I will share something else ahahha):
*puts hand on face*
Man there are so many!! Where should I start??
My favorite Dannie memory is the day we decided to let go of our inhibitions and try a new friendship. :) I never knew that would be the best day of my life!

I hope each and everyone of you have a very best friend because I cannot imagine my life without mine! You need a corner person to hold you down, validate you, correct you, encourage you, and most of all KEEP IT REAL! Here's to all of the best friends out there!! Thanks for being you!

Shawn T Prevails!

Yesterday I was so distraught because I was unable to make it to the gym. Well, I decided to do INSANITY instead. If you have ever done INSANITY then you know that little 30-45 minute workout is a BEAST! I have been training at an MMA gym for the last month and Shawn T was still able to kick my ass. DEAR GOD!! Then I decided to do the workout in my uncle's garage... but why though?? LOL! It was soo hot and dry in there! I finished an entire bottle of water during my workout. This is totally not like me. I drink very little water when I work out in order to avoid the little stitch you get in your stomach. Clearly this concept went out of the window yesterday. My grandmother nearly gave me a heart attack yesterday. She decided to come into the garage and watch me workout. She missed the step, fell, and hit her head on the car. I KNOOOOOW, that was my reaction too. Luckily, she is okay. She has a bruise on her knee and is a little sore today, but overall, she is fine. Thank GOD!

I will share my menu with you guys for today... I haven't done that in awhile.

Breakfast:
4 eggs (1 whole egg, 3 egg whites)
Oatmeal

Snack:
Watermelon
My uncle got the best damn watermelon from Sam's the other day. I have been tearing that joker UP!

Another Snack (I am so hungry. My grandma said I have a tapeworm. LOL!)
Somersaults <-- These are the most amazing snack I have ever tried. I found them at Albertsons yesterday. They are made with sunflower seeds and NO NUTS!! AMAZING! I have no idea how to right click and save on this MAC. LMAO! So, just check out the link. LOL! http://www.somersaultsnackco.com/?event=enjoy.cinnamon-crunch

Lunch:
Chicken Breast
FYE Salad I made for granny and I yesterday.

My uncle is currently in the kitchen whipping up that salmon I requested! Mmmmm mmm! Just might have another glass of Malbec with tonight's meal. Let me see how "cheaty" I feel.

Oh yeah, yesterday we had Mexican! I cannot tell you the last time I had Mexican food. I didn't have a margarita, although everyone at the table wanted me too. LOL! I had a taco salad. It was good. I did eat PART of the shell and added some sour cream. I didn't feel disgusting after I ate it, so it is all good.

The hardest part about being someone's guest is making sure they are not offended by you not eating their food. At this point, if you don't understand my life you probably don't need to be in my life. AHHH!

Happy Sunday peeps! Love you guys bunches!! XOXO!

Now I am a Bit Frustrated!

Okay, so I tried the all women's crossfit class. It was a cool class, but  I am a little too advanced. So the plan was for me to go to the actual crossfit class today at 9:00 am. Well, my uncle went to play golf this morning and his wife has to take the new baby to the doctor. Therefor, Heidi has no way of getting to the gym. I could totally run there, but I am just not in the mood. I am grumpy, it is hot, and by the time I finish my workout it will be in the heat of the day. I WILL NOT be running in El Paso, TX at damn noon. Effff THAT!!!  I cannot WAIT to get back to my side of the US where I can come and go as I please. My agitation will be corrected with some INSANITY... I guess. Ugh!

Ooohh Texas!

Good morning good people!! I bring you greetings from the dusty ass city of El Paso, TX! I am here on vacation with my uncle, my grandmother, and little cousins. I have literally done nothing but workout and eat healthy since I got here. Today, I will try a crossfit gym that is like 2.5 miles from the house. They offer an all women's class. I figured I could try the women's class and asess myself. The class will help me warm up to the gym and determine if I am ready to tackle other classes. Luckily for me, they have a free, one week membership! That's all I need honey! I am ghost on the 5th, boo boo! I will run there, workout, and run back home.

So, let me tell ya'll about this trail run yesterday. SMH! My uncle is in the military and runs almost everyday. So, I knew to ask him for some good running routes. Well, to my surprise he tells me there is a running trail right at the end of his subdivision. He then proceeds to tell me that the trail is safe and I will be fine running alone in the early morning.  I asked him about the conditions of the trail- bumpy, crowded, narrow,  these are all things a runner wants to know because you have to get yourself mentally prepared for a new route... well, at least I know I do. I need to know where I am going and what to expect. Have you ever been on a route and have to use the bathroom?? In that instance, it would help if you knew where the restrooms were on your route. Anywho, after I inquire about the road conditions my uncle asks one question, "Are your shoes new?" Of course not. They are worn and tattered. I actually need some new gym shoes. It's bad. He asked if my shoes were new because the trail is dirt!!!! YESSSS!! DIRT! Okay, I love to workout and sweat and all that jazz, but I HATE getting dirty. *gags* So, I mentally prepared myself for this dirt filled adventure, laced up my old ass sneaks, tuned in to some Chicago radio (best music), and started out on my run!

The path is really shaded and wide enough for 4 people to run side by side. There is also a coming and a going path. It really is a great trail... except for all of this damn dirt and dust. OMG!! THEN, to top it off, I went the opposite way my uncle normally runs. This is fine, the trails are all safe. However, my over zealous ass chooses to run right beside a damn cow pasture. RRRGGGH! Shit was in my nose the entire run! Talk about mind over matter, good Lord.

I ran early morning so the temp wasn't too bad and it was still cool out. One good thing about El Paso is that it is in a valley and doesn't get as hot as it could. But don't be fooled, the high for today is 105! The air is extremely thin! This is a huge adjustment for me seeing as the Florida air is so thick and muggy. My nose and eyes were on fire. I was literally crying by the end of my route. I have no idea how and/or why that happened (I should google it). By the time I was done with my run, I could feel the dust in between my toes. Yes, through my shoes and my socks and straight to my feet. My uncle is EXTREMELY OCD so I didn't even attempt to bring my shoes in the house... they are still sitting on the front porch LOL!

I totally miss my MMA fam in Orlando! Really and truly one of the only reasons I look forward to getting back... that and my job. So sad, I know. Get a life Heidi Mae!! HA! I have a life... ME, ME, ME, ME, ME!! HAHAHHA! Awful!

I will probably post everyday for the next week. Wait, wait, wait, I forgot we are taking road trips. So, I won't be posting everyday this week. However, I will post a lot within the next week and a half. Oh and someone please come and get this bottle of wine. It is going to be my downfall yet!! HA!

Love you all bunches! Stay positive and focused. Remember that everything in life has a time. There is a time to plant and a time to reap, a time to plan and a time to execute. My beautiful cousin shared Ecclesiastes, Chapter 3 with me last night. It spoke in volumes to me. You might want this or that and maybe you have become frustrated because you have been unable to attain exactly what you want. But don't be discouraged, this just simply might not be your season. God will give you what you NEED and prepare you for what is to come. Patience IS a virtue. Here's to a healthy you spiritually, physically, emotionally and financially. The world is a war, but God's got your back! XOXOXOO!!

The Struggle Is Real

IDK if you guys have heard anyone say, "The struggle is real..." but my friends and I use it a lot when we reference something that causes self struggle. <--- IDK if "self struggle" is a word, but go with it. So, the one thing I struggle with right now is my freaking diet! O M G! The things I ate a year ago that helped me lose weight, now make my stomach bloat. It doesn't help that my 26 year old metabolism has decided to slow down. Whew! But we in there... tweaking this diet on the regular.

I have been on this quest for abs for about 6 months now. HA! My downfall is not my workout. I can workout all day everyday. My downfall is my diet. I have THE worst sweet tooth known to man. I eat a lot of granola and cereal bars to help satisfy my sweet tooth. Well guess what, too many freaking carbs for abs. They aren't bad for you, but they are horrible for the look I want to achieve. I swear to you guys, the healthier you get, the harder it is to maintain. I want serious cuts all over my body. Guess what that means? NO FREAKING YOGURT!! Whhaat?? Yes! No yogurt. Apparently the dairy limits your cut. Ugh! Favorite snack: Chobani Pineapple Greek Yogurt. Womp. I had to get sunflower seeds that have no salt. NO SALT PEOPLE!! Ugh! I am going to adjust and take it from there. Yesterday I actually packed my food. I knew I was going to be away from home for some time (got my hair braided), so I packed my meals. This helped a lot. Although, it is extremely awkward preparing food you brought at someone else's house. THEN people get offended when you don't eat their food. I swear it is not you... it's me. I am trying to grow baby abs. My boss told me to look at it as though I am trying to grow a child. Well, I of course don't want my kid to die. So baby abs must get all of the food and nutrition needed. The biggest challenge is going to be my two week vacation. I fly to El Paso, TX with my grandmother in exactly one week. If  I can stick to the plan of growing baby abs while in Texas then I am golden!!

Tonight is JungleFit at the MMA Fighting Gym I joined! Those classes are AMAZING!! Any workout that leaves me sore is a fave!

Short post, I know. But I will be back with more... don't you worry! Until next time, peace and blessings good people! XO!

26 and Slick Fit!!

OMG! I have celebrated my birthday and celebrated my birthday... I really and truly cannot handle another birthday celebration! I have eaten non stop since Memorial Day Weekend. I am pretty sure I have gained the 3 inches lost from my waist. It really is a sad day.

I didn't workout ANY while on vacation. I went to Atlanta to spend time with my very best friend; and let me tell you, we kicked it. Our only "must" for the entire weekend was to have fun and eat good. Boy did we do both. In our defense, we did have a few healthy meals... that were cancelled out by amazing cocktails and late night munchies. LOL! Any woman reading this blog knows that a few thousand calories and extra carbs mean NOTHING when in the midst of a great girls' weekend. My time with my best friend is always fabulous and priceless!

I returned Monday night, skipped my Tuesday workout, and hit the ground running (literally) on Wednesday. Wednesday, May 29, was my actual birthday. I treated myself with an early morning run... best gift evveer. Later that night, I had Hibachi, Cheesecake Factory (just desert), and a little hookah. The run meant nothing. LOL! I was so tired from Wednesday night that I needed to rest on Thursday. So, I did. Oooh, but boot camp was calling my name on Friday. I am usually pretty legit at boot camp. Not to toot my own horn,  but I am one of the fittest in the class. There is a girl that definitely has me beat, but in my mind I beat her EVERYTIME she sets foot in my boot camp class. She is undeniably my motivation. Other fit bodies motivate me. I hate to feel defeated in anything.... ANYTHING. Boot camp is definitely not a competition, but I make it a competition and nobody can hit a burpee better than this girl. Whoop!

Saturday morning was boot camp all over again... for 2 hours. My boot camps are HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training). You sweat, you can't breathe, and you lift... TRX ropes, jump ropes, squats, sprints, core and more core... all of the high intensity cardio you hate, wrapped up in a cute little box, and sold to you as an unstoppable fat burning formula. IDK how much more fat I burn doing boot camp vs any other workout I enjoy, but I can tell you I feel GREAT when I finish boot camp. When I don't workout at higher level of intensity, I feel like crap. I am tired and grumpy. For me, a mediocre workout just doesn't do it anymore. If I every muscle in my body is not burning, I am not satisfied. Simple as that! I convinced my workout partner to come and try boot camp. She hates it, but she loves it. She calls me crazy bitch because my workouts are ridiculous. What do you want me to say?? Mediocrity does not yield greatness.

This is random, but in case you guys didn't know these boot camp classes are SUPER expensive!! Like, why though?? Ugh. So, I have been getting my boot camp classes from Groupon and LivingSocial. I just finished my Groupon at Orlando's Fit Body Boot Camp, and now I will move on to the Jungle MMA and Fitness. I am terribly excited about the Jungle's boot camp. The gym is known for its MMA training. My boy asked me to not go Kimbo... just might! LOL! First boot camp at the Jungle is tomorrow. I have 3 months of unlimited classes and gym access. You know this rat is going to be all over that!! Yitadee!!

I want to give a big shout out to all of my WONDERFUL friends and family who made my birthday sooo special! Extra special shout out to Mrs. Hope and my Florida family for giving me such an awesome birthday finale! I love all of you so very much... and even though my tumbleweed couldn't make the celebration, you were there in spirit!

My Grizzlies got swept... WOMP!!! WTH Grizz, ugh. Still a fan though!

There will be an update on the new boot camp so stay tuned! Love you all!! XO!
